Hermine F. Aborn, 98, of Greenwich , CT, passed away at Greenwich Hospital on Friday, April 12, 2013. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Louis H. Aborn, in 2005.
Her last days were spent showered by the love and affection of her children, Sargent Aborn and Nancy Aborn Duffy, their spouses, Audrey Aborn and Kenneth Duffy, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Hermine was born in New York City on March 8, 1915. She was a graduate of Hunter College Model School, Calhoun School, Ethical Culture Teacher Training School and Mills College.
Hermine was engaged in civic affairs for all of her adult life. She was active in the League of Women Voters for over 50 years and served on the Greenwich Recycling Advisory Board. She supported the Greenwich Symphony, the Harlem International Community School and the Aborn Eye Research Laboratory of the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, among many other organizations. Hermine was a matriarch and an inspiration for her generosity and joie de vivre.
