Braxton , Ian
IAN HOWARD BRAXTON, 51, died of a heart attack on September 16, 2012. He was born in Greenwich of Dolores C. Braxton and the late James R. Braxton. Ian attended Julian Curtiss School, Greenwich Country Day School, and Greenwich High School. He played football for GHS and was known as the "Big Bird" on the GHS wrestling team. After high school, Ian enjoyed crewing for yacht races and worked on oil rigs in Oklahoma. Both as a child and as a man, he had incisive wit, a beloved sense of humor, and a big heart. After moving back to Connecticut in the late 80's, his children Sean and Heather were born. He spent many summer days on his boat with his loved ones at Shell Island. He eventually settled into a career in the security and alarm system industry, most recently as the Operations Manager for Connecticut, upstate New York, and Vermont at Protection 1 in Milford. He is survived by his children Sean and Heather Braxton; his mother; his sisters Jocelyn Braxton Armstrong of Westport and Meredith Braxton of Greenwich; his brother James Braxton of Rowayton; his nephews Angus, Reece, Trevor, and Evan; and his niece Acadia. A memorial service for Ian will be held at Christ Church, 254 East Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, Connecticut, on Friday September 21st, 2012 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ASCPA.
