Campbell, James K.
James "Jim C" Kenneth Campbell succumbed quietly and peaceably to cancer on November 25, 2013 at his home in Norwalk CT surrounded by family.
He was born August 4, 1940, to Douglas and Isabella Campbell in Glasgow, Scotland. Jim graduated Saint Gerard's high school in June 1955. Jim immigrated to the United States with his mother and brother, Alistair, in 1957 and joined the US Army in June of 1959. Jim was Honorably Discharged in June 1963, with the rank of Sargent E5, having last served in a Recon unit. Upon his return to civilian life Jim pursued a career in Horticulture and attendedWestchester Community College. Along with taking on several studies at the NY Botanical Gardens over his career. In 1965 he married the love of his life, the former Ellen Carmel O'Gorman and they spent 48 years together until his death.
Jim went on to pursue a career in horticulture, eventually becoming his career goal of Estate Manager, working for some of the finest estates in Greenwich CT, Westport CT, and Pocantico Hills NY. Jim was renowned for his elegant flower arrangements, outdoor flower beds bursting with color, bee keeping skills, and giant heirloom beefsteak tomatoes.
Throughout his life Jim was a patriot and stood ever ready to defend his adopted home land. Jim also enjoyed golfing and fishing. In his later years Jim became very active in Veterans affairs. He was a life time member of VFW Post 399, Westport CT, CT Veterans Honor Guard attached to American Legion Post 12 and VFW post 399, and also a lifetime member of the 9th District Veterans Club in Glenville CT.
Jim is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ellen "Carmel" Campbell, Brother Alistair Campbell and sister Brenda (Bob) Henry, Son Aran (Marie) Campbell, Daughter Charlotte Pennella, Granddaughter Maryanne, Grandsons Richard (Nariza) Nael, Christopher Pennella and Great Grandsons, Mathew and Ziren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 30, at 10:00 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Avenue, Norwalk. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk. Friends may call Friday, November 29, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk.

Carmel,so sad to hear about Jimmy,he was a long time friend. I could not be in Connecticut for the funeral,but thinking of you.I will remember Jimmy in my prayers.

My condolences to Carmel and Family. Jim was more than a customer to my business. We played golf, went to Met games and generally picked on each other for fun.

We've lost a good man.
