Jean Callaghan Clarke, 90 of Greenwich CT. passed away peacefully on Feb 9th, 2014. Jean was born in Greenwich on September 7th 1923, daughter of the late Mary Agnes (McGurk) Callaghan and John D. Callaghan. Jean was predeceased by her husband Frank P. Clarke. (WWII vet, Greenwich Firefighter, Plumber) Brother, John (Fran) Callaghan, Sisters, Margaret (Ken) Foster and Mary (Bill) Clark. Jean lived her entire life in Greenwich. In her early years Jean was employed by the Town of Greenwich in the Tax Collector's Office and later as a Secretary at the former St. Mary's Grammar School and Administrative Assistant of the Religious Education Program at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, in Greenwich, CT. Jean (Mama) was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, devoted wife, caring sister and a favorite Aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. Mama was an avid sport fan, (NY Giants, Yankees) and enjoyed watching the PGA tournaments. In her early days she was a talented softball player and later enjoyed her Friday night bowling league and rounds of golf in Florida and Cape Cod. Jeans favorite place was Cape Cod, where she spent many summers as a young girl and throughout her life with family and friends. She loved to travel enjoying car trips across the country, vacations to Ireland and England and spending winters in Boynton Beach Florida. Jean is survived by her three children, Gigi (Tony) Melillo of Cos Cob. Susan (David) Ludder of Tallahase Florida and Patrick (Sue Ellen Ingraham) Clarke of Cos Cob along with seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are being made through Fred D Knapp funeral home on 267 Greenwich Ave., Greenwich, CT. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10am, on Thursday, Feb 13th, at St. Mary's Church, 178 Greenwich Ave., Greenwich, CT.
