L. Kennedy Obituary

L. ROGER KENNEDY a lifelong Greenwich resident, died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at home. Born on June 19, 1924, he was the son of Paul and Loretta Brennan Kennedy. A graduate of Greenwich High School and Fairmont University in West Virginia, Mr. Kennedy was the founder of Kennedy Security Services, Inc. in 1959. He was a lifetime member of the NY Roadrunners Club and completed over 100 marathons all of the world. He was an avid follower of Notre Dame football and UConn Women's basketball. Mr. Kennedy is survived by his stepdaughter Lenore Kennedy Lyons, daughters Colleen Kennedy, Shannon Elizabeth Kennedy and her husband Mark S. Cook, grandchildren Paul Kennedy Grinwold, Nicholas Brennan Grinwold, Sean Michael Grinwold, Ryan Robert Denno, Lindsay Katherine Fong, great grandson Jackson Basil Magann and his mother Mary Rayfield George, sister Joan Harvey and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Kerry Kennedy, his grandson Kerry Ryan Magann, brothers Paul Kennedy Jr., Frank Kennedy and sister Teresa Kennedy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Church, 178 Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Adopt a Dog, 849 Lake Avenue, Greenwich, CT 06831. Fred D. Knapp & Son Funeral Home is assisting the family. To the Kennedy Family; Greenwich has lost a great Irishman. Roger was a vocal and loyal supporter of both the GPD and GFD and a great booster of The Emerald Society Band. He will be truly missed.
