ADELE M. ANDERSON age 98 of Darien, CT, died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at Stamford Hospital. Born in Ansonia, CT January 13, 1910, she was the eldest child of Peter V. and Mary (Kacergis) Domikis. Predeceased by her husband, Arthur Victor Anderson; a daughter, Ardelle L. Davis and son-in-law, Robert G. Davis; she is survived by her daughter Ellin Anderson Lewis and son-in-law, Ronald B. Lewis of Cutchogue, NY; six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Adele graduated as a Registered Nurse from Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT. While working in New Haven, CT, she met and married her husband and moved to New York City. Later, moving to Darien, the couple built their house in 1941 and resided there ever since. Adele was a volunteer nurse during World War II at St. Joseph's Hospital (now Tulley Health Center) in Stamford, and a long-time member of the Union Memorial Church in Stamford, and, over the years, actively participated in the Women's Guild which was instrumental in numerous events and charitable causes. Adele and Art were members of Woodway Country Club in Darien for 54 years where they enjoyed playing golf and bowling with dear friends and many years later, she enjoyed the companionship of Sunday Brunches with a close group of women. Adele will be remembered by her family and friends as a very special lady who was always smiling, optimistic, and interested in the people around her. She was loved tremendously and will be greatly missed. A public memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Union Memorial Church, 58 Church Street, Stamford with the Rev. Dr. Blaine Edele officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to a charity of their choice.
