Reid, William W.
William W. Reid, died on August 29th 2013. Born March 31, 1921 in Bells Hill, Scotland to the late Campbell and Margaret Gilchrist Reid, he immigrated to the United States in 1923. Bill grew up in Harrison, NY and graduated from Harrison High School, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and served as a radio technician in WW II in the European theatre. Bill was a graduate of the National Savings & Loan League Acadamy, Mercersburg, PA. Bill began his association with Greenwich Federal Savings & Loan in 1948, it was there he met and married Jean Aumack and settled in Greenwich. Bill retired as director and president of Greenwich Federal in 1983. Bill obtained his US citizenship in 1950, he was a former Jaycee and Kiwanian and involved in many aspects of community service in Greenwich. As a true Scot he enjoyed the game of golf and was a former member of Innes Arden, Tamarack and Indian Harbor Yacht Clubs. Bill is survived by his wife Jean, sons William, Jr, (Elizabeth) and David, grandchildren Michael(Jessica), and Bonnie, great granddaughter Margaret. Also surviving are Bill's sister Susan Thonnesen and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Nancy Shea. Burial was private.
