Burochonock, Dorothy & Andrew
Burochonock, Dorothy Yacubik Slusarz, age 91, passed away on October 30, 2012 in Silver Spring, Maryland. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Afanasy and Elena Yacubik and grew up in Banksville, CT. She married Joseph Slusarz in 1948. He predeceased her in 1968. Dorothy worked for 44 years at the Greenwich Board of Education.
Burochonock, Andrew, 95, passed away on February 22, 2013 in Silver Spring, MD. He was born in Hastings, NY the son of Daniel and Nettie Burochonock. He married Mary Chiger in 1945 She predeceased him in 1984. Andy served in the U.S. Air Force as a bomber pilot during WWII and successfully flew 51 missions. He retired as a lieutenant colonel. He also worked over 30 years for Cunningham Auto Body in Byram, CT Andy and Dorothy married in 1985 and made their home in Stamford, CT. Dorothy is survived by sister Vera Hershey of Stamford, daughter Laurie and son-in-law Larry Checco of Silver Spring, MD, son Jeffrey and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Slusarz of Walnut Creek, CA, and 4 grandchildren. Andy is survived by sister Olga Moscowitch of Port Chester, NY, daughters Stacia Berndt and son-in-law Bill (deceased) of The Villages, FL and Sonya Neilsen and son-in-law Paul of Norwalk, CT, four grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, June 22nd at 11:30 at St. Mary's Russian Orthodox Church in Stamford. Donations in their memory can be made to the Church or .
