Jerry Jordan Obituary

Jordan, Jerry Neville.
Jerry Neville Jordan passed away quietly on Monday, October 19, 2015 in Greenwich, CT, his home for the past fifty years.
He was born to Helen (Wagner) Jordan and Clarence L. Jordan on June 15, 1928 in Media, PA, where he lived for 22 years. He earned a bachelor's degree from Princeton University, and a master's degree at the University of Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Army achieving the rank of 1ST Lieutenant. While at the University of Pennsylvania, he made a significant contribution to the congressional antitrust investigation of Major League Baseball. His groundbreaking studies of the impact of television ownership on viewer behavior and beliefs was instrumental in eliminating restrictions on broadcast rights, supporting radio and television association contention that unfettered broadcast rights would not negatively impact ticket sales and game attendance.
On September 12, 1953, he married Barbara Claire Moore (deceased November 1987) and began his career with the advertising agency N.W. Ayer & Sons of Philadelphia, PA . He moved steadily up the ladder from Account Executive to Vice President, to Assistant to the President. He was intimately involved in N.W. Ayer flagship accounts such as AT&T, the US Army and De Beers. In 1966, he accepted a position with American Airlines in New York City, and moved his family to Greenwich, Connecticut. He held a variety of senior executive positions within American during his tenure, including President of Reservations World, an American subsidiary. He was Vice President of Corporate Planning at American in 1973 when he left to accept the position of President at Thomas Cook International, a global travel management company.
In 1976, he returned to his roots at N.W. Ayer Incorporated, where, as Executive Vice President, he was tasked with building an international network of agency partnerships and acquisitions. On October 27, 1990 he married Jean Anne Knieste (deceased September 2014). He could never believe he was so lucky as to have had two blissful marriages in one lifetime.
After retiring in 1991, he pursued his many interests which included managing his investments, traveling, enjoying his vacation home in Florida, collecting fine wines and spending time with family and friends. He treasured his relationship with his four grandsons most of all.
He is survived by his two sons, Mark N. Jordan (Melissa) of Media, PA, and Douglas K. Jordan ( Lisa) of Greenwich, CT and his beloved grandsons Christopher Jordan and Matthew Jordan of Media, PA and Brian Jordan and Kevin Jordan of Greenwich, CT. He was predeceased by his wives, first Barbara Moore Jordan and then Jean Knieste Jordan, and his daughter, Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Jordan.
A memorial service has been scheduled for Friday, October 30 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Church located at 476 North Street, Greenwich CT. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, people make a donation to their local chapter of the ASPCA.

Dear Doug, Lisa, Brian and Kevin,

We are so sorry for your loss. Few can even imagine how great it must have been having your family grow up a mere "sand wedge" away from such a distinguished father, in-law, grandfather and patriot. Jerry will be missed by all he touched. God bless your family during this difficult period.
