Grant and Elsie were very good friend of ours here in Green Valley, AZ. We were both living in the Villages of GV, just a few blocks away from one another for 23 years. Before he left AZ he gave me a set of Greenlee Chisels for myself being from Rockford he thought that I would appreciate the Greenlee chisels. Just have one negative about Grant. He told me that he would live to be a 100 years of age. He told me this when he was in his 80's, about 15 years ago. Now I will have to go out and find another friend. The two of us had many talks down at the Villages Pool where we would meet 2 or 3 times a week. He liked to swim. A neat guy and a good friend. Dr. Dan Nielsen

Fred, Curt, Marc and Beth and family, I know that words cannot express your feelings at this time. Your Dad was an awesome guy. I watched him with great admiration from my early childhood years.

One wonderful memory was
the time he gave Carol and me a puppy he and your Mom had bred (Tippy). Each time they would visit our home, Tippy would eagerly run to him as she always warmly remembered him.

Especially at this time of the year, I remember our childhood Christmas Eve dinners as he would "always" get the almond. :-) :-) :-)

Curt, I watched your Dad as he spent his days in your business encouraging your staff and employees at each turn as he strolled through the shop. He was always "on your side". What an encouragement for you and a wonderful example for me as I've tried to emulate his character, his encouragement and his smile in my "dealings" with our church leadership, our Pastors and staff in our congregation.

As written in the Obituary, "he was a man of his word, a true a friend, and the patriarch of his family who found in him a source of strength, compassion, and support".

We were always so welcomed as we visited them in Green Valley and at the lunch meetings in Phoenix.

I so wish I could make the trip back for the service on Saturday but my schedule is jammed.

Our prayers are with you all during this time. As believers in Jesus, we need not grieve as those without that hope.

May you all be comforted with the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Oh, that smile of Uncle Grant's - what a precious reminder of him. Memories come so quickly, easily - when I think of our family times together. Easter breakfast at Grandma Cedarleaf's...heading over to Bethesda; Christmas Eve at Grandma's - and guessing which uncle would be Santa; to this day, the smell of burned out candles reminds me of Christmas Eve and time for the Christmas story; family picnics; gatherings at Rock Lake...so much more! As a family, we have been more than blessed! Thankful for God's Plan and direction and Godly examples of those who have gone before us. Precious memories....love and prayers for our wonderful family. God is good! Love and blessings to you, Dear Cousins....

Dear Fred and your entire family,
I rejoice with you in knowing that life is eternal through the atoning sacrifice of our precious savior and dear redeemer, Jesus Christ. I remember you and your parents when I was principal at Marsh School. You were blessed to be born of such goodly parents. I express to you and your family my heartfelt sympathy. I pray you will be sustained at this tender time of parting by that spirit which comes from Him who said,"I will not leave you comfortless:I will come to you."(John14;18) I send you my love and blessings.
