Joseph P. Clark, age 84, passed away Oct. 27, 2013, at University of Arizona Medical Center after a short illness. He was born in Detroit, Mich., to Joseph P. Clark Sr. and Clara Martini Clark.

He served in the Korean Conflict at the Chosin Reservoir in 1950. Upon his return to Detroit in 1951, he joined the Detroit Police Department, where he obtained the rank of Sergeant and retiring in 1978, as outgoing president of the Detroit Police Lieutenant's & Sergeant's Assoc., he moved to the Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council of Michigan, where he served as executive director for several years, until retiring in 1987. Joe was a lifetime member of the Masonic Temple, and the B.P.E. Elks Club Lodge 2592 in Green Valley, life member of First Marine Division Association and Korean War Veterans Association Inc. He is also a member of American Legion Post 66, Chosin Few of Arizona and National, Marine House USA, as well as the Marine Corps League of Green Valley, and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Roscommon, Mich. He was also a volunteer fireman with the Gerrish Township Fire Department in Roscommon and was a member of the Michigan Firemen's Memorial Festival Committee.

Joe was predeceased by first wife Jean Clark, and his parents. He is survived by wife, Carolyn; daughter, Janet (Dr. John) Kalbfell, of Okemos, Mich.; son Jeffrey (wife Kathleen), of Kalamazoo, Mich., and, grandchildren, John Kalbfell, Jr. (Ana), Elle Kalbfell, Amanda and Chelsea Clark, Steven and Claire Stryker, all of Michigan.

Joe and Carolyn moved to Green Valley 22 years ago and he loved the desert. Joe also enjoyed his days at Desert Hills Golf Course with his friends in the C & H Golf Group who fondly knew him as "Adolph," as well as the other golf groups he played in. He had a great sense of humor and loved to write letters to the editor of the Green Valley News.

There will be a memorial service for Joe at Desert Hills Golf Club on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m.
