Margaret J. Dunlap died Jan. 8, 2014, after a short illness. A memorial service was held Jan. 13 in Edina, Minn. A July inurnment service is planned at St. John's-by-the-Campus, Ames, Iowa.

She was a native of Green River, Wyo., graduating as her high school's salutatorian. She transferred after two years at the University of Colorado to complete her home economics degree in textiles and clothing design at Iowa State College (University), where she became known as "Jackie." There she met Norman Dunlap whom she married in 1941.

They settled in Ames where they raised their family. Jackie was active in the Vestry and the Altar Guild at St. John's-by-the-Campus, Campfire Girls, Beta Tau Delta and P.E.O. She was a volunteer with the Mary Greeley Hospital Guild, the Octagon Center for the Arts and Brunnier Art Museum. She enjoyed trips to Europe and throughout North America and summers at the cabin on Pike Bay in Minnesota.

She and Norman retired to Green Valley, Ariz., where she continued volunteer work in the Altar Guild at St. Francis-in-the-Valley, P.E.O, and at Tubac Center of the Arts. She joined Doll Club, Antique Club, and Iowa Club. She valued her many friendships with residents and staff at Silver Springs. After Norman's death in 2008, Jackie lived in Wayzata, Minn., at Meridian Manor.

She was known for her needle arts, notably custom clothing, needlepoint kneelers, handmade dolls and hand-stitched quilts. She will be remembered as a dedicated homemaker, a gracious and welcoming hostess and a devoted wife and mother.

She is survived by children Margo Reeg (Chuck), John Dunlap (Gladys), Lynn Dunlap (J.R. "Brad" Speer) and Kim Arndt (Tom); grandchildren Kristin Reeg (James Elmendorf), Heidi Reeg (Chris Rinaldo) and Clint Martin (Dara Felts); and great-grandchildren Sonny and Jack Martin, Toby Elmendorf and Kaia and Lucia Rinaldo.

She was preceded in death by husband Norman, parents Margaret and Joseph Jacobucci, and siblings Marian, Joseph and John
