Norman Lee Alfing of Green Valley passed away on May 5, 2013, at his home. Norm had been a Green Valley resident since 1978.

Born May 31, 1933, in South Haven, MI, to Geraldine (Brooks) and William Alfing, Norm grew up and attended school and university in Michigan; was a Korean War Veteran; worked for Bohn Aluminum and Brass Corp; St. Regis Paper Co.; and Armstrong Machine Works, establishing and managing a plant site in Belgium, and continued with Armstrong back in Michigan. Norm began work with Hughes Aircraft in 1978, earning numerous awards and patents until he retired in 1995.

Norm is survived by his daughter Gwen and son Brian (Nancy) and 4 granddaughters, Jessica (James), Sarah (Robby), Amanda, and Elizabeth.
