ALAN L. JORDAN

Alan L. Jordan, 68, passed away unexpectedly on April 10, 2013. He is survived by his wife MaryAnn (Dunkel); sister Sue Port; brothers Kent (Gloria) and Kevin; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Joyce; and brother Dale.

He was born and raised in Athens, Penn., and graduated from Athens Area High School in 1962. After graduation, Alan enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served his country from 1962 to 1966. Upon completion of his service he pursued a career as a computer programmer and moved to Homestead, Fla., in 1978, where he resided for the next 28 years. While living in Florida, Alan had several endeavors including ownership of Al's Pro Shop, which he successfully ran for 7 years until health issues forced him to sell the business in 2005.

In 2006 Alan and MaryAnn relocated to Green Valley, Ariz. Despite his health issues he immensely enjoyed a wonderful quality of life. He was an avid bowler and won several National Amateur Bowlers Inc. tournaments during his time in Florida. Alan was also involved in stock-car racing as a driver, winning several local events during his racing career. His other interests included cooking, playing poker, bingo, spending time on the computer and sharing life with his devoted partner MaryAnn. Alan was a member of Green Valley American Legion Post 66 and a life-time member of VFW 4127 in Homestead, Florida.

There will be a Celebration of Life event to honor Alan at the American Legion Post 66 on Sunday, April 21, at 1 pm. Friends are invited.
