CAROLYN (Lyn) ACKERMAN passed away peacefully on Sept. 2, 2012. She was born in Drexel Hill, Penn., on July 25, 1925. She leaves her husband, Alfred, and daughter Peggy Ackerman of Tucson, sons Alfred of Northville, Mich., Robert Scott of Brooklyn, N.Y., and grandchildren Colin and Hannah.

Lyn grew up in Pennsylvania and Cape May, N.J. She graduated from Duke University and worked a few years for American Airlines in New York City. She loved music and sang in many church choirs and also the choir at Duke University where she sang on the Perry Como Easter show. She sang many solos at Valley Presbyterian Church in Green Valley where she lived for 26 years.
Prior to living in Green Valley, she lived in Massachusetts where she was a Paper Conservator at the New England Document Center.
She was an avid golfer and loved to travel. Along with her husband, Al, they started Valley View Travel Agency in Green Valley, which is now owned by Bon Voyage Travel.
She volunteered at Case de Esperanza in Sahuarita as well as at the VA Hospital in Tucson.
A small service will be held Thursday, Sept. 6, at 2:30 p.m. at the Manor of Midvale in Tucson. She will be laid to rest in Cape May, N.J., by the ocean which she loved.
