DIANA M. JUSTICE-HORTTER, age 74, of Green Valley, AZ, died Sunday, 29 April 2012, after a long illness. She was born the daughter of Walter and Mildred (Richardson) Copeland, in St. Louis, Missouri, on 2 April 1938. She married Earl “Buddy” Justice on 25 January 1967, in St. Louis, MO, and subsequently moved to Key West, FL, where they operated a small lobster boat business for ten years. Together they raised a family of five children, Thomas F. Justice (Shirley) of West Palm Beach FL, Tammy Wise-Thrash (Ron) of Tallahassee, FL, Kevin W. Justice (Patsy), of Lakeland FL, Dawn M. Cote (David), of Sahuarita, AZ, and Vicki L. Watson (Charley), of West Plains, MO. Diana and the family moved to Tennessee and then eventually to Willow Springs, MO, in 1984. After the death of her husband Buddy in 1984, she attended college and became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1986. She began her career as a nurse first in Houston, MO, where she met her husband Lester Lee Hortter, then in West Palm Beach, FL, where she worked at Wellington Regional Hospital. Diana and Lester were married in West Palm Beach on 17 June, 1989. Diana and Lester had 17 happy years in West Palm Beach and were members of Redeemer Lutheran Church where they volunteered with the elderly and needy. Shortly after being diagnosed with Emphysema in 2004, Diana concluded her nursing career while working as a private duty nurse. Shortly after retiring, Diana and Lester moved to Green Valley, AZ to be near her daughter Dawn and her husband David. Diana loved the Arizona sunshine, its open space, mountains, clean air, and lack of humidity. Throughout her life she enjoyed crocheting, listening to country music, gardening, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. While in Arizona, she was a member of the Risen Savior Lutheran Church of Green Valley. In later years she found delight in building charitable donation packages for single mothers and disadvantaged children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Walter, Charles, and Edward, her husband Buddy, and her grandson, Army Specialist, Robert Allen Wise, who was killed in action in Baghdad, Iraq. She is survived by her husband Lester, Guido “Eagle” Roche, of Key West, FL, who was more like a father than a father-in-law, her five children, her 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and brother Gerald (Billie) Copeland of West Palm Beach, FL. A memorial service will be held in Hannibal, MO at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the .
