Martha Ann Myers Parker Sadler, age 90, died 1-16-2014 after a battle with pneumonia and a broken hip. Born in Lucas County, Iowa March 19, 1923 to Nolan D. Myers and Mary E. Myers, both deceased.
Longtime resident of Oklahoma, Martha was a graduate of the OU school of nursing in Oklahoma City. She pursued a degree in nursing education at Florida State University, and completed her degree at Oklahoma City University. In 1952 she married Joe. M. Parker, MD, of Oklahoma City, who preceded her in death. Active in community affairs, she served as president of St. Anthony Volunteer League; as secretary of the Auxiliary of the Oklahoma State Medical Association; as a board member of Children's Convalescent Hospital in Bethany, OK.; and a lifetime member of the Oklahoma City YWCA. She was also active at Westminister Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, Moderator of Women of Westminister, Elder and Trustee.
In 1992 she married George Sadler, Ph.D., professor of economics at Southern Colorado University, whose death also preceded Martha's. In 2002, they moved to Green Valley, AZ and to La Posada, where Martha was active as the Flower Lady, helped at the Treasure Shop, tended a Bonzai tree and other helpful activities, which were numerous enough to keep her very busy. Martha was a loyal friend, confidant to many and a help to all in time of need. She is a member of Valley Presbyterian Church and has been active there.
Martha is survived by her brother Dan Myers and his wife Wanda of La Posada in Green Valley, AZ; and stepchildren Jan and David Murphy of Oklahoma City. Many nieces and nephews survive, as do countless friends.
A Memorial Service is planned for Thursday, Feb. 6, at 3 p.m. in La Joya assisted living chapel on the La Posada campus. Memorials may be sent to a
