MELVIN GEORGE 'MELâ€™ BRUNNER, JR., 76, loving husband, father, and brother passed away with his wife and son at his side in the Southern Arizona Hospital (Tucson, AZ) on the evening of July 8, 2012.

Born in Louisiana to Melvin George Brunner, Sr., and Myrtle Brunner, he is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Lynne Brunner (Green Valley, AZ); son Brant Brunner (Boulder, CO); sister Janice Dunnington (Loranger, LA); nephews Richard, Bruce, Randy Dunnington (Loranger, LA); niece Rhonda Smith (Loranger, LA); brother-in-law Ray W. Hammond, wife Bonnie, and niece Caitlin Hammond (Albuquerque, NM).
After graduating from Loranger High School, Mel enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served 2 years in Okinawa, Japan. After an Honorable Discharge, he obtained a degree from Southern Louisiana College in Hammond, Louisiana. In 1969, Mel moved out west to Denver, CO, then Albuquerque, NM, where he would eventually meet Mary Lynne and marry in March 1972. In November 1973, Mel and Mary Lynne were blessed with their only child, Brant. In 1975, Mel purchased Carney Insurance Agency in Gallup, NM, which he sold in 2000. Upon selling his business, Mel and Mary Lynne retired to Quail Creek Golf Resort in sunny Green Valley, Arizona, to enjoy his love of golf.
