GRACE DENA WINFIELD
The Guest Book is expired.
Our beloved mother, Grace, passed away peacefully in Tucson, Arizona on September 29, 2012. At 96 years old, she was still as gracious and lovely as ever and retained her witty, funny sense of humor.
Grace was born in Johnson County Arkansas on May 8, 1916. Much of her interesting and varied life included living and working in New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, and Arizona where she and her husband, Menless, ranched and mined turquoise in each of those states. Their two most famous turquoise mines were the Villa Grove Mine in the San Luis Valley in Colorado and the Lone Mountain mine in Tonopah, Nevada.
Despite the hard work of ranching and mining, sometimes in remote rural areas, Grace always managed to make a comfortable, happy home in which to raise her two children. She loved the Southwest, the history, the culture and the people. She collected beautiful Native American rugs, baskets, and pottery.
Grace is survived by her son Robert Winfield and his wife Michelle, grandson Jason Winfield and his wife Barbara, grandson Justin Winfield and his wife Rebecca, her daughter Caroline Vigil and son-in-law, Joe Vigil.
A private family service will be held in Colorado.
