Earl E. Fuhrman, age 86, of Glasgow. MT., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Tucson, Ariz.
Earl was born on March 20, 1926 in the Baylor Community, the son of Peter K. and Pauline (Miller) Fuhrman. He attended grade school at the South Fuhrman School and graduated from Glasgow High School in 1943. Earl entered the U.S. Army for World War II and served 18 months in the European Theatre serving in the Armored Infantry for the US Military. He was fluent in speaking German.
On Oct. 16, 1947 Earl married Rita Mae Downing in Glasgow. He enjoyed flying, served on the Advisory Board of the Agriculture Experiment Station in Sidney, and served many years on the Opheim School Board. He was a president and director of the Valley County Livestock Association. Family was everything to Earl.
He was the sixth of 10 children, a farmer and rancher from 1947 to 2004, when he retired. Earl was a charter member of the Treasure State Bank, a 4-H Leader for 20 years, enjoyed rodeos (they were a highlight), ranching, playing cards at the Elks, telling jokes and stories. He did Farm Training for 2 years and served on the Federal Land Bank Board.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Fuhrman; a son, Jimmy Fuhrman; and a grandson, Jonathan Hamper; brothers Walt, Clarence, Melvin and Harry, and a sister Lenore Alden.
Survivors include his children, Arlene Hamper of Green Valley, Ariz.; Cyndi (Ken) Solberg of Larslan, MT; Alan (Debby) Fuhrman of San Diego, Calif.; and Anita (Jim) Vaskey of Billings, MT; grandchildren Kris (Tami) Hamper of Portland, Ore.; Derek (Judee) Solberg of Powell, Wyo.; Tiffany (Ryan) Hanson of Aurora, Colo.; Tyler (Nicole) Fuhrman of Oceanside, Calif,; Carly (Anthony) Rodriguez of Portland, Ore.; great-grandchildren Kyle, Luke, Taylor, Mark and Jake Hamper, Trevion and Memphis Solberg, Kendall and Josie Hanson; a brother, Ken (Shirley) Fuhrman of Larslan, MT; sisters Ruth Gilbertson and Phyllis Campbell of Glasgow, and Barbara (Barry) Bales of Scottsdale, Ariz.
