EARL E. DENTON

Earl E. Denton died at the age of 83 on Friday, Jan. 25,2013. He was born on Aug. 28,1929 in Gering, Neb., and lived a full, rich life with his wife of 61 years, Eve.

Earl graduated from Gering High School in 1948 and enlisted in the US Navy where he served as an air crewman with the Navy's "Night Hecklers" during the Korean War. On Feb. 23,1952, Earl married the love of his life, Eve Nielsen. After being honorably discharged from the military in 1952, Earl attended the Colorado School of Mines and the University of Utah, where he graduated in 1956 with a degree in Geology.

Earl worked for both Amoco and Mobil Oil as an exploration geophysicist, retiring from Mobil in 1989. Upon retirement, Earl and Eve embarked upon a life of travel and adventure, visiting all seven continents and well over 30 countries. They also took up bird watching, viewing over 500 species around the world. Earl enjoyed bow hunting, skiing, and fly-fishing, and he built his own sailboat and earned his private pilot's license as well. He was always active in the lives of his four children and dedicated a great deal of time, energy and love to them.

Earl is survived by his wife, Eve; three daughters, Sandra Nemeth, Kristin Denton, and Laura (Tom) Schaff; one son, Eric (Kehaulani) Denton; one granddaughter, Delaly Quist; and one great-granddaughter, Kianga Hoover.
