James Connell Moore, born Aug. 19, 1919 in Franklin, PA, died Jan. 30, 2013 in Green Valley, AZ.
He had a long, happy and productive life. A military and civilian engineering career took him all over the world. He served 20 years in the U.S. Army, including WWII and Korea.
He was a great traveler, reader, historian, pastry chef, hiker, gardener, poet, adventurer and devoted Catholic. He leaves behind many memories for his family to enjoy.
He will be remembered for his quite, gentle ways, sense of adventure and great sense of humor. He will be remembered for the bounty of his gardens, especially the strawberries.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard, Pearl and Marion; brother Paul; and wives Mary Alice Greene and Roseanne Jensen.
He is survived by his brother Richard; daughters Patricia Taylor (Paul), Mary Braunagel (David), and Sally Jensen (Bill McGhee); and grandsons Collin, David and Will.
He was a resident of Green Valley for 27 years. He was active in the GV hiking club for many years. He also spent several years as a docent at Kitt Peak observatory. His last few years were spend peacefully at La Hacienda at La Posada.
The family would like to thank Dr. David Massanari and Beth Orenduff, NP, for their professional care.
A special thanks goes out to the exceptional caring staff of La Hacienda, especially Victoria, Jana, Valerie, Cindy, Megan and all the nursing assistants who lovingly called him "Poppa."
