Leroy Vernon Johnson went to be with his Savior on the morning of Feb. 24, 2013. He died at Peppi's House on the grounds of Tucson Medical Center. Lee was born in Haron Lake, Minnesota, in 1930. He moved to Tucson with his family in 1943 and graduated from Tucson Senior High School in 1948, then went to work for the American Tobacco Company before going in the Army and serving in Korea. He moved to San Diego and worked for Sambo's Restaurants as a district manager and subsequently worked for the Post Office until his retirement in 1995. He and his wife, Betty, moved to Green Valley in 2000. He was a member of Desert Hills Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 131, and was a fan of Big Band jazz, Dixieland music and the Arizona Wildcats. He is survived by his daughter Linda and her husband Tom of San Diego. Also a son David Johnson of San Diego and a daughter Diane Wells and her husband Jeff in Nashville, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild, as well as his brother Jerry and wife Beth of Green Valley.
