Anthony (Tony) Sostarich passed away in Green Valley on April 7, 2013. Born in Kansas City, KS, on Jan. 23,1930, he was the son of the late Louis and Veronica Sostarich.

He was preceded in death by an infant son Patrick, his former wife Jeannette, son Robert, daughter Connie, grandson Willie, brother Joe and sister Dorothy.

Tony is survived by his wife Lois; sons Raymond, Darrel (Annette), Rick; and daughter Polly Wesner (Mike); sister Emma; brothers Ray (Mary) and Gene (Nita); 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Tony served 22 years in the USAF in Aviation Maintenance, active in both Korea and Vietnam. He received many service awards and decorations. After retiring as a SMSgt. in 1971, he moved his family to Tucson. His second career was with Phelps Dodge Copper Mine west of Green Valley. He retired in 1992 and lived in Sahuarita until his marriage to Lois Dahlberg in 1999. They have enjoyed retirement in Green Valley since that time.

He was a devout Catholic, a member of the American Legion, Elk's Lodge, VFW, DAV, Santa Cruz Valley Car Nuts and served as a volunteer over many years in those organizations.

Tony loved his family, his country and his many friends. He was sincerely dedicated to all, and those who had the pleasure of his love and friendship will miss his wit and devotion.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, April 18,10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Green Valley. Immediately following, there will be a military service and lunch at the American Legion Post 66 on Duval Mine Rd. Tony will be laid to rest in the National Cemetery in Phoenix.

Tony would be proud to have memorials given in his name to Honor Flight of Southern Arizona.
