After the passing of his parents, Pete continued as owner of that store. He loved to bowl. He loved all sports, playing basketball while at McGuffey School. He was a life time member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge in Seven Mile, Ohio, holding several offices including Treasurer, until just a few months ago. He was a 50 year member earning his Knights of Pythias pin. He was a member of the Seven Mile Chapter of Izaak Walton Club also. Pete loved his family, especially his eight grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Janet Jewell, his son Darin Jewell, two step daughters; Jody (Max) Swafford and Stacy (Don) Wolff, his eight grandchildren: Spencer, Olivia, Tate and Grady Swafford, Hayden and Loren Wehrley and Megan and Evan Wolff, three sisters; JoAnn (William) Coombs, Melva Ward and Donna (Shawn) Gallagher. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Spivey, his parents, Paul and Myrtle Jewell, a younger brother, George Kenneth Jewell in 1952, a step daughter, Kelly Rae Kirkpatrick and a brother in law, Charles Ward. Pete will be missed by all his friends and family who loved him dearly. Friends were invited to visit with the family on Thursday, January 30 from 10 am to 1:30 pm followed by Knights of Pythias Service and Funeral Service at 1:30 at Ogle & Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford. Graveside service immediately followed at the Oxford Cemetery. My deepest sympathies to the entire Jewell family. Pete was a wonderful person to be around. I knew him through my grandfather Lester Brooks and my dad Bill Brooks. I will always remember going to The Workingman Store and wearing the Hee-Haw overalls as a kid that were bought there. I will always remember the great New Year's Eve celebrations at Pete's in Seven Mile every year.

My deepest sympathy to the Jewell family and friends. I didn't get to meet Pete but did speak to him over the phone. He and I were able to figure out who the farmer was that helped his Dad start up The Workingman's Store. Pete was such a pleasant and kind man. Heaven has gained an Angel. May God comfort you during this difficult time.

In thoughts and prayers,

Uncle Pete you will be truly missed by friends and family. I was so lucky to have such a terrific Uncle in my life. You cared for all your nieces and nephews like we were your own kids. So many great memories with you for family gatherings, at the store, parties at your house in Seven Mile, and eating your homemade ice cream! Glad we got to share that last bowl of ice cream together at Christmas. Love you and you will be missed. Rest in peace.
