PHILLIPS, Doris Claire* - Chesapeake  
News Death Notice PHILLIPS, Doris Claire 88, went to be with her Lord on May 13, 2015. She was born in Tulsa, OK to the late Clyde and Gladys Jones. Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her son, Howard W. Phillips and brother, Clyde Jones. Doris was an accomplished pianist, singer, musician and served as a choir director at several churches for over 30 years with her longest tenure being at First Baptist Church, Middletown, OH. She also organized and directed many children's musicals and handbell choirs in addition to, founding and directing the Kingsmill Choirliers in Williamsburg, VA. Doris was a loving and devoted wife and mother who leaves behind her husband of 68 years, Howard B. Phillips; daughters, Jeanette M. Stallings (Steve), Sharon L. McFarland (Jack) and Kim E. Ponder (William); grandchildren, Melanie Garrett (Carter), Jenny O'Neil (Tommy), Natalie Cheney (Dave), John Kail, Jeff Stallings, Brandon Tillman (Caitlin) and Garrit Tillman; brothers, Fred Jones (Margaret) and Bruce Jones (Nancy) and numerous other loving family and friends. A service to celebrate her life will be held on May 16, 2015 at 1 pm at Providence Presbyterian Church, Virginia Beach with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey S. Bell officiating. She will be laid to rest at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to First Baptist Church, 4500 Riverview Ave., Middletown, OH 45042, Providence Presbyterian Church, Virginia Beach or a charity of your choice.
