HOSKINS, Naomi Frances (nee: South)* - Morrow  
News Death Notice HOSKINS (nee: South), Naomi Frances 88, a lifetime Morrow resident, died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Pine Ridge Nursing Home. Born in Morrow on June 14, 1926 to Perry Francis & Liddie Jane (nee: Helton) South, she graduated from Morrow High School in 1944 and married James Leonard Hoskins on December 28, 1945. A dedicated homemaker and mother, Naomi enjoyed cooking, crocheting and spending time with family. Survivors include her devoted husband of 69 years, Leonard, one son & daughter-in-law, James Francis & Joanne Hoskins, three grandchildren & their spouses, James Brian & Marla Hoskins, Jennifer & George Long, and Jessica & Matt Davila, and eleven grandchildren, Seth, Samantha, Kyle, Shelby, Parker, Caroline & Micah Hoskins, Erin and Lydia Long, and A.J. and Andy Davila. She was preceded in death by her sister & brother-in-law, Clara & Charles Wetz. Visitation was held Saturday, February 14, 2015, 10-11:00 AM, with the funeral service immediately following, all at the Vale-Hoskins Funeral Home, Morrow. Interment followed in Morrow Cemetery with Pastor Cindy Ware officiating. Memorial donations may be made in Naomi's name to either Hospice of Cincinnati or Pine Ridge Activities Fund.

HOWARD, John E.* - Middletown  
News Death Notice HOWARD, John E. 66, of Middletown, died Thursday, February 19, 2015, at home. He was born in Lockport, New York on February 23, 1948 to parents Harold and Eunice (Freer) Howard. Mr. Howard retired from AK Steel after 37 years in 2006. Mr. Howard is survived by his wife, Nancy Williams; sons, Andy (Candy) Howard and James Howard and grandchildren, Marissa, Hunter, Alyssa and Fisher. John was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Kenneth, Mert and Chuck Howard; sisters Marge Poore and Shirley Spradlin. HUDSON, John E.* - Fairfield  
News Death Notice HUDSON, John E. Was born on February 9, 1950 and passed away on February 23, 2015 after a long illness at Atrium Medical Center. John was in the Intensive Care Unit for over three weeks. John retired from Southwestern Ohio Water in 2013. He had a strong work ethic as exhibited by his belief to "make your employer know you are valuable". Mr. Hudson also worked at Bain's Meat Market, Kmart, Champion, and Sorg Paper. He lived by the belief and lived by example. John was a lifetime member of the Monkeys Mutual Aid Society. He served as Secretary, Trustee, and was an integral part of constructing Monkeyland. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #501. A classic car and motorcycle enthusiast, John knew every car he ever owned, as well as having the ability to name any make, model, and year, each by sight. Music was a love and his tastes varied from Country to Classic Rock. John loved fishing, boating, gardening, and everything to do with nature. He loved all his pets and they were part of his family. John is survived by his wife Kristina Marie Yauch and her son Aaron Mucha; son Jonathan (Heather) Hudson; daughter Jessica (Michael) Scholes, and grandchildren Andrew, Michael, Alexandria, Race, Jarred, Regan, and Nate. He is also survived by his sisters Phyllis (Chuck) Lakes, Sylvia (Mike) Mills, and Kathy (Tim) Rowland, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Hudson was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Farmer Hudson and Katie Latham Hudson, his brother Frank Hudson and a sister Verna Totten. John was also preceded in death by his wife Marcia K. Hudson. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Hurlburt, Dr. Cobb, Dr. Vuong, and the staff at Atrium Medical Center for their excellent care of John during his illness. HURD, JEAN L.* - Hamilton  
News Death Notice HURD, JEAN L. Age 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2015, surrounded by her family. Born on February 18, 1931, to parents Fred and Minnie (Pennington) Hammel, Jean lived in Hamilton, Ohio all her life. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Bill Hurd; her son, Jack (Debra) Newkirk, two grandchildren, Todd (Jeanne) Newkirk and Taylor (Erica) Newkirk, six great grandchildren, her devoted sister, Ann (Melvin) Brown, brother-in-law, Bob (Flo) Hurd and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather Warren Hammel, brother Robert Hammel, her twin brother Jack Hammel, infant son Michael Hurd and her in-laws William and Myrtle Hurd. Throughout her long illness, Jean was an example of courage and strength. She was a kind and loving person and cherished her family and friends. Nearly everyone she met commented on her beautiful smile and her inner and outer beauty. A 1949 graduate of Hamilton High School, Jean worked at Fernald Feed Materials Production Center until her retirement on January 1, 1990. The family wishes to thank all those involved in her care. Services will be held at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 4601 Fairfield Avenue, Fairfield, Ohio (corner of Symmes Road and Fairfield Avenue between Pleasant Avenue and Route 4). Visitation will be at the church on Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tammy Jo Reiser officiating. JONES, James L.* - Fairfield  
News Death Notice JONES, James L. Age 57 of Hamilton passed away Tuesday February 3, 2015. He was born March 6, 1957 in Hamilton the son of the late Lawrence and Helen (Bowling) Jones. Mr. Jones attended Harrison, Roosevelt, and Garfield schools. On December 5, 1977 he married Barbara Ruckman. Mr. Jones worked as a blacktopper for over 25 years, which was his passion. He worked for numerous companies the most recent being CBS Blacktopping. He is survived by his wife of 37 years Barbara Jones; daughters Christy (Jerry) Ellison and Sarah Jones; grandchildren Jordyn Ellison, Logan Ellison, and Natalie Henry; brothers Ben Jones and Orville (Donna) Jones; sisters Rose Keeler, Norma Bowling Shutt, and Thelma (Joe) Jones; numerous nieces, nephews, close friends, his in- laws, and his big cat Stanley, who was his buddy and pal. Mr. Jones was also preceded in death by his brother Robert Wagner. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday February 26, 2015 from 6:30-8:00 PM at the Seven Mile Baptist Church, 4021 Hamilton-Eaton Road, with Jeremiah Strong, officiating. KREMS, Ronald E.* - Hamilton  
News Death Notice KREMS, Ronald E. Age 82, of Hamilton died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 after a short illness in the VA Hospice Unit in Dayton. He was born October 2, 1932 in Greenville, Ohio the son of Edward A. and Geneva (Jones) Krems. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving from June 6, 1952 to May 25, 1956. He married Doris Spangler on September 21, 1957. Ron had been employed in sales for Butler County Lumber Company for many years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Doris; two sisters, Maureen (Gary) Nebinger, Dublin, Ohio and Phyllis (Ronald) Grundstein, Montgomery, Texas; two grandchildren, Ronald J. Krems, and Brandy M. Krems and a niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two sons, Brent Krems on March 25, 2011 and Bruce Krems on November 14, 2013. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N. W. Washington Blvd. with Rev. J. C. Collins officiating. News Death Notice LANIER, Janice Arlene Age 74, of Franklin, Ohio passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Bickford of Middletown. She was born April 17, 1940 in Franklin, Ohio the daughter of the late Earl and Katherine (Copper) Bowermaster. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her two sisters, Judy Bowermaster, Dona Robinson; two brothers, Edward Bowermaster, David Bowermaster. Janice is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bramwell Lanier; son, Michael (Cathy) Lanier; daughter, Susan (R.J.) Fox; four grandsons, Jake Lanier, Seth Lanier, Andrew Caudill, Evan Lanier; brother, Richard (Delores) Bowermaster; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Janice was a wonderful homemaker and was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
