News Death Notice

MEECE, Buddy Gene Age 81, of Hamilton died Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Hospice of Hamilton. He was born April 22, 1932 in Somerset, Kentucky the son of James W. and Lucinda Meece. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and married Janis Lou Bedford in 1954. Buddy was employed as a truck driver for Henke's Express, retiring after 30 years. He was a member of the Gospel Assembly, and was a devoted Christian who served the Lord for over 50 years. He loved the Cincinnati Reds and was always joking with people. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Janis; three daughter, Kimberly (Allen) Blundell of Trenton, Jennifer Slaven of Hamilton and Rachael (William) Whitt of Hamilton; a sister, Betty Harris of Somerset, Kentucky; grandchildren, Matthew Blundell, Sarah Blundell, Adam (Emily) Blundell, Joshua Slaven, Jacob Slaven, Gabrielle Whitt and Noah Whitt and Aimee Morley who he always thought of as his granddaughter and great grandchildren, Kylee Blundell, Ava Blundell, Christian Blundell and Aaron Blundell. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Jeffrey Meece in November 1963; brothers, Charles and James Meece, sisters, Zona Meece and Rebecca Keeney, Odetta Bibee, Viola Bullock, Mary Mitchell. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 5, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N. W. Washington Blvd. followed by a family funeral service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Mills Springs National Cemetery, Nancy, Kentucky.
