News Death Notice

MENCHE, Charles Earl age 92 died peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2014 in the Healthcare Unit at Berkeley Square in Hamilton. He lived at Berkeley for the last 3 years. He and his wife Margaret (Arnold) Menche lived for 10 years on Stephanie Dr. in Hamilton. Charles was born in Hamilton on August 20, 1921 the son of Lawrence and Anna (Schutte) Menche and was a 1939 graduate of Hamilton High School. He attended the University of Cincinnati. Charles and Margaret were married on July 21, 1943 at St. Peter in Chains Church in Hamilton and she preceded him in death on June 15, 2010. He retired from Fisher Body in Hamilton after thirty-nine years service. He was an avid bridge player and he always enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds. In his younger years, he played the trombone and was a member of the American Federation of Musicians. Survivors include four children: Terri (Gary) Beckett of Boston, MA., Larry (Kim) Menche, of Owensboro, KY, Charles E. "Chuck" (Debbie) Menche Jr. of Hamilton, and David P. (Debbie) Menche of Middleburg, Florida; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Besides his wife Margaret he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Menche. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM Wednesday in St. Julie Billiart Church, 224 Dayton St. Hamilton, Ohio followed by burial in St. Stephens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00AM Wednesday in the narthex of the church. Memorials are suggested to Breast Cancer Research Fund at Komen.Org. Zettler Funeral Home serving the family.
