Douglas W. HAMPTON

News Death Notice

HAMPTON, Douglas W. age 69, of Middletown, passed away Friday, October 4, 2013 at Atrium Medical Center. He was born October 19, 1943 in Salyersville, KY. Douglas worked for the Middletown Police Department for 26 years receiving many accommodations. Starting out as a police officer, he also worked as a motorcycle cop, he was part of the Dive Team, a member of SWAT, and was a Detective at his time of retirement. He was a member of the Middletown Moose, Eagles, Elks, and FOP. Douglas was an avid hunter and fisherman, a 45 year member of Middletown Sportsman's Club where he served on the board. He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Hampton. Douglas is survived by his wife of 32 years, Alta (Ivey) Hampton; mother, Eloise Hampton; daughter, Peggy Edwards; granddaughter, Ashley Edwards; sisters-in-law, Pam (Bill) Gault and Renee (Don Neal) Patton; brother-in-law, A.L. (Tammy) Ivey; his furry companions, Smokey and Bandit; and many loving family members and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2013 from 12:00 noon until the Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 pm with Jerry Minor officiating at Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home.
