H. Ruby BERGDALL


News Death Notice

BERGDALL, H. Ruby 95, of Middletown, died Monday, July 29, 2013, at Liberty of Middletown. She was born in Jacktown, Ohio on April 18, 1918 to parents Carl Milo and Pearl (Orr) Swartz. Ruby received her Bachelor's degree from Capital University and her Master's degree in English from Miami University. She worked as a school teacher for Middletown City Schools, retiring from full-time in 1983 and substituting until she was 85. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Bethlehem Lutheran Women of the Church, Quilting Circle and she taught many things at the church. Ruby enjoyed gardening, travel, genealogy, camping, was an avid collector and was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Middletown Middies. Mrs. Bergdall is survived by her five children, Christine Whitaker, Paul J. (Paula) Bergdall, Mary (David) King, Martha (Mike) Terry & John Bergdall; 14 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Paul D. Bergdall in 1989; parents; brother, Jess L. Swartz; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Bergdall; and grandchild, Peter. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 10:00 am at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 212 S. Broad Street, Middletown with Reverend Gene Leiter officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown, OH. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
