News Death Notice

BLOUNT, John age 82, of Monroe, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014, at Fair Haven Nursing Home in Sidney, Ohio. He was born September 4, 1931 in Middletown to parents Edward and Katherine Blount, the eleventh of twelve siblings. He was a 1950 graduate of Middletown High School, where he played varsity football and formed many life-long friendships. John started his career as a pipefitter and rose to the level of construction superintendent, overseeing construction projects in countries such as Aruba, Colombia, Venezuela, Egypt, and Thailand, traveling extensively with his beloved wife Elaine of 59 years in Europe, Africa, South America, and many other foreign countries. John was a veteran of the USMC and served his country with honor during the Korean Conflict. John was also an avid private pilot and plane owner. John was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, James, Charles, George, Clarence, Calvin, Robert, and Kenneth; sisters Eleanor, Grace, and Freda; sons, John Jeffery and Jason Todd; and his beloved wife Elaine. He is survived by his brother Ballard (Joyce) of Huron, SD; and his son James and daughter-in-law Judy; and grandchildren Jillian, Joel, and Jessica, of Troy, OH; and many wonderful friends and neighbors all across the world. Visitation for John will be held at Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home in Middletown, OH on Sunday, May 11, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 10:00 am with Pastor Keith Risner officiating. John will be interred immediately thereafter at Woodside Cemetery in Middletown alongside his beloved wife Elaine and sons, Jeff and Jay.
