News Death Notice

PIERATT, John Paul age 71, of Somerville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties where he had been a patient for two days. He was born December 7, 1941 in Middletown, and lived in this area all his life. He graduated from Middletown High School in 1959, and served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962. He was employed in the rigging and turn coat maintenance departments at AK Steel for 37 years retiring in 1999. John was a former member of V.F.W. Post 3809, D.A.V. Chapter 131, and American Legion Post 218. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed woodworking. He was an intriguing storyteller. Preceding him in death were his parents, Willie and Artie (Murphy) Pieratt; two sisters, Barb Mueller and Sylvia Combs; and two brothers, Chuck and Harold Pieratt. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Robyn "Sue" Pieratt; three children, Michael Woodard, Buck Woodard, girlfriend, Karen Alwine; and Nikki Childers, husband Rocky; six grandchildren, J. P. Woodard, Myles Woodard, Gavin Childers, Brock Childers, Harlyn Childers and Aubrey Woodard; one brother, Gerald Pieratt, wife Lois; many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. Visitation will be Thursday, December 5, 2013 from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown, followed by services at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Dan Flory officiating. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park, Trenton, Ohio, with Military Services by Middletown Combined Honor Guard. Arrangements by Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown.
