News Death Notice

JOHNSON, John W. age 88 of Somerset, Kentucky, formerly of Ross, Ohio passed away February 19, 2013. He was born on December 27, 1924 in Hamilton, Ohio the son of Minous and Lilly (Miller) Johnson. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. John was employed as a machinist for National Can Corporation for many years. He is survived by three daughters, Tona Johnson, Diana (Jeff) Claybern, and Sandra (Scott) Hadley; four sons, Huston "Tim" (Pam) Johnson, John "Jack" (Sheilah) Johnson, Troy (Lynn) Johnson, and Tony (Ruth) Stevens; 19 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; one sister, Christine Spurlock; special nephew, Robert "Bobby" (Amber) Dunham; very special buddy and neighbor, Nathan VanHook; and many other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 27 years, Alberta (Lewallen) Johnson and a toddler daughter, Darlene Kaye; his second wife of 33 years, Janice "Jan" (LaFavers) Johnson; 4 sisters, Myrtle, Rosalie, Eileen, and Marie; and 3 brothers, Richard, Paul, and Wade. Visitation will be held at Charles C. Young Funeral Home, 4032 Hamilton Cleves Road, Ross, OH on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky with burial following in MillSpringsNationalCemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.
