News Death Notice

SHAW, Melvin Lee age 72 of Oxford, Ohio passed away at his home on Wednesday afternoon, September 11, 2013. He was born on August 19, 1941 in Ross, Ohio the son of Harley and Marie (Hornung) Shaw. He graduated from Ross High School and served in the U.S. Marines for 4 years during the Vietnam War. On January 9, 1965 he married Nancy Louise McPherson and they were married for 48 ½ years. Melvin was employed as a diesel mechanic for 39 ½ years at Cummins Diesel. He was a 46 year member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hamilton. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Nancy Shaw; two sons, Jeffrey (Kari) Shaw and G. Scott (Conni) Shaw; five grandchildren, Victoria, Shelbie, Savannah, Hunter and Fischer; two sisters, Maxine (Richard) Rudicil and Shirley Maggard; and many other loving relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at Charles C. Young Funeral Home, 4032 Hamilton Cleves Rd., Ross, OH on Saturday, September 14, 2013 from 1 pm until the time of the funeral at 3 pm. Burial will follow in Venice Cemetery in Ross. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 1200 Main St., Hamilton, Ohio 45013.
