News Death Notice

LAWSON, Robert "Blackie" age 78, of Middletown, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 at his residence. He was born December 8, 1935 in Middletown, OH to Jack and Christine (Rowland) Lawson. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the submarine service with the US Navy with an honorable discharge. He was a member of the UDT - EOD team. He received the extended China Service Medal for services in the French Indo China, also the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a retired iron worker for Dayton Local #290. He was a dedicated Boy Scout Leader for Troop #15 of Mayfield. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Connecticut. Robert is survived by his children, Bob (Corky) Lawson of Middletown, Jack (Betty) Lawson of Houston, TX, Diana (Bill) Myers of Acworth, GA, Jim (Sunday) Lawson of Monroe, and Tina (Steve) Dirksen of Monroe; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Carol Lawson. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 pm at the funeral home with Jerry Minor officiating. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.bakerstevensparramore.com
