News Death Notice

MAGGARD, Ronald W. "Mango" age 60 of Lebanon passed away Saturday May 31, 2014. He was born October 2, 1953 in Berea, Kentucky the son of Dorothy (Flannery) Maggard and the late Clifford Maggard. He was a 1972 graduate of Lakota High School. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, and on September 1, 1978 in Hamilton, Ohio he married Cheryl Bentley. Mr. Maggard was a member of the Benjamin Franklin Masonic Lodge #719, Scottish Rite, and the Syrian Shrine. He worked at Fisher Body until the time of its closing then transferred to the Moraine Truck and Bus plant until his retirement after 31 years in 2008. Mr. Maggard was very active in LSO (Liberty Sports Organization) for many years and coached Lakota Tomahawk Football. After his grandchildren were born being a "Papaw" became the most important role in his life. Mr. Maggard is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Cheryl Maggard; his mother Dorothy Maggard; two children Jessica Maggard and Harley (Kyerra) Maggard; five grandchildren Avery, Lyla, Owen, Waylon, and Ethan; two brothers Wendell Maggard and Gerald Maggard; one sister Rhonda (the late Alan) Price. He is also survived by his lifelong childhood friends affectionately known as "the Maud Boys". Mr. Maggard was also preceded in death by his brother Gary Maggard and his mother in law and father in law Lucille and Gordon Bentley. Visitation 5-8 PM Wednesday at THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME 3080 Homeward Way at Rt. 4, Fairfield. A Masonic service will be conducted at 7:00 PM Wednesday followed by the Scottish Rite Ring Ceremony at the funeral home. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday June 5, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Marcum, officiating. Burial to follow with full military honors in Rose Hill Burial Park. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Mary Ellen Broadstone Gaeke and staff, the Compton Center at Atrium Medical Center, and to Dr. Omer Hurlbert, III and staff for their kind and compassionate care of Ron.
