News Death Notice

CARMICHAEL, Wilbur Newton age 94, died December 12, 2013 at Woodland Country Manor. He was born July 12, 1919 to Elmer Newton and Elsie May (Shera) Carmichael in Preble County just east of College Corner, Ohio. His siblings were: Helen, Nina, Bruce and Bernice. He graduated from McGuffey High School, Oxford, in 1938. Wilbur married Martha Louise Williams on Feb. 12, 1944 at her parent's home in Union County, Indiana. Their children are Larry (Deborah), Shirley (David) and Jane (Michael). They had six grandchildren: Tamara (Dan), Emily, Molly (Anthony), Jonathan (Lisa), Katherine and Timothy (Rachel). They had three great grandchildren: Dakota, Mackenzie and Micah. Wilbur farmed for 30 years in Oxford Township and then drove a truck on the Miami University grounds crew for 23 years. He drove a bus for Talawanda FFA events and for the God's Nightcrawler. He was a member of the Butler County Farm Bureau since 1944. He donated over 19 gallons of blood in his life. Wilbur was a very generous person who was always looking for ways to help others. He had a warm smile and loved to share funny stories. A public Memorial Service was held at the Oxford Lane Public Library on Dec. 15, 2013. Wilbur was buried in the West College Corner, Indiana Cemetery.
