News Death Notice

CROWE, Owsley O. age 95, of Germantown and Preble County, passed away, Monday, November 12, 2012 at Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton. He was born in Mt. Sterling, KY, on February 25, 1917 to the late Garnet "Jack" and Mary Ellen (Hartgrove) Crowe. He was a WWII Army Veteran; and retired from General Motors ~ Harrison Radiator Division in 1980. Owsley farmed in the Gratis & German Township area for 62 years; and held a Real Estate License. He was an avid guitar player and a Class B ~ Checker Champion. He was a Charter Member of the Gratis First Church of God and the Beechwood First Church of God; and attended the Germantown First Church of God for 19 years. Over the years, he taught bible class for 25 years; and served on the church boards. He was a member of Gideons International; Camden Masonic Lodge # 159 F. & A. M., Scottish Rite ~ Valley of Dayton, the Antioch Shrine and was a Kentucky Colonel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Mary Ellen McIntosh and Nancy Brown; a daughter-in-law, Debi Crowe; 2 sisters, Frances Thornton and Emily Lovelace; 6 brothers, Caesar, William, Millard, James, Henry and Rollie Crowe. Owsley is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Margaret (Avery) Crowe; 2 daughters, Shirley (Tim) Blanton of New Lebanon and Frances (Jim) Douglass of Camden; his son, Jack Crowe of Carlisle; a son-in-law, Rex (Beverly) McIntosh of Jacksonburg; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Family and friends may call 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, November 14th, at the Dalton Funeral Home, Corner of State Route 4 & Weaver Rd., Germantown., The Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, at Germantown First Church of God, 760 Farmersville Pike, Germantown. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Gratis. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God. Please share condolences at daltonfh.net
