News Death Notice

EVANS, Albert L. "Al" Age 83, of Hamilton passed away suddenly of a massive heart attack on Sept. 14, 2013. He was born Nov. 18 1929 in Soldier, KY, the son of Sam and Martha (Jones) Evans. Albert served in the US Marines during the Korean Conflict earning three battle stars. Al worked in different professions during his lifetime including 17 years as a machinist at Fernald and many years as an independent builder. He also worked for Ivers Const. and Cunigan Const. In his last years prior to retirement, he enjoyed working at Jungle Jim's, supervising construction and maintenance, and was very proud of helping create the "jungle scene". Al loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, took pride in finish carpentry work, and enjoyed preparing Thanksgiving dinner every year for the family. He was a life member 32nd degree Mason of the Soldier Lodge No. 708, F&AM. He is survived by his former wife, Arlene (Kiser) Williams and their children: Karen (Robert) Stewart, Brenda (Robert) Conley, and Vickie (Jason) Aspinwall; grandchildren: Katelyn Stewart, Jordan (Rachel) Conley, Kristi (Ryan) Bellamy and Ashley and Leah Aspinwall. He is also survived by a brother, James Chester (Shirley) Evans and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Sam Jr., Eugene, and Vaughn (Hazel). As per his wishes, his body is being donated to UC College of Medicine, and there will be a private memorial service for the immediate family.
