Frosine Revelos Obituary

News Death Notice

REVELOS, Frosine 101, of Middletown, died Friday, December 11, 2009, at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties. She was born in Greece on March 3, 1908 to parents Michael and Eleni (Karteroulis) Aridas. She came to Middletown as a bride to Nicholas G. Revelos , one of the founders of Elite Ice Cream Co., in 1929. When he preceded her in death in 1941, she was left to raise her five children, aged 3 to 11 alone. She obtained her American Citizenship and went to work at Elites to support them. She sold her interest in Elites after a year and a half to devote her full time to care for her children. Trying to do both took a toll on her health. She was very active in her church and was a charter member of the Philoptochos, a church organization to help the poor. During World War II she and other ladies sent clothing in the Bundles for Brittain program. In her later years she worked at the Revelos Confectionery on Central Avenue. Mrs. Revelos is survived by her sons, George N. Revelos, Mike (Katina) Revelos, Chris (Elaine Renee) Revelos and daughter, Lula Poulias and grandsons, Nicholas M. Revelos, Alcibiades Poulias and Nicholas C. (Victoria) Revelos; granddaughters, Euphrosyne (Rick) Eccher, Mary (Adam) Knecht, Jamie (Vernon) Beatty, Francine (James) Ulrich and Chrisanne (Jeffery) Heisey; 7 great grandchildren. Frosine was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Nicholas G. Revelos; son, Constantine "Charles" Revelos, 6 brothers and sisters, and 2 step sisters and a step brother. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2500 Grand Ave., Middletown with Fr. Bill Cassis officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2500 Grand Ave., Middletown, OH 45044.

Dear Revelos family:

Please accept our sympathy for the loss of Kiria Frosene. She was truly a remarkable person and holds a very important place in the history and tradition of Middletown's Greek community.

She touched us all with her dignity and her passion for the Church and she served as an example of courage and aplomb in overcoming early hardships in her life. And she has left a wonderful legacy through her sons and their families.

May God rest her soul.
