BERKEMEIER, John D. "Doug" Age 53, went to heaven on May 23, 2012 after fighting a courageous battle with ALS. He was born March 1, 1959 in Covington, Kentucky the only son of Laura (Moore) Berkemeier and the late John B. Berkemeier. Doug was a 1977 graduate of Lloyd Memorial High School in Erlanger, Kentucky. He was an integral member of the 1976 state championship football team. His relationship with Christ was what led his life. Doug called Landmark Church his home. He was part of the prison ministry and also taught Sunday School. Mission trips with the church were highlights in his life. Doug was a loving and devoted husband to Kim. His most joyful role in life was that of dad to Kiel, Blayke and Maycee. Doug is also survived by sisters Cindy (the late Jay) Wilson, Christina (Jim) King; In-laws Boyd and Linda McNabb, special aunts and uncles Bill and Sue Moore, Ricky and Debbie Moore; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Doug was employed as a Manager of Project Managers with MedPlus in Mason, Ohio. He loved hunting, fishing and the Green Bay Packers. His love of football coupled with his love of working with kids spilled over into making him a loved and respected football coach. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 3:30 pm - 6:30 pm with funeral services beginning at 6:30 pm and burial immediately after. All services will be held at Landmark Church, 1600 Glendale Milford Road Cincinnati, Ohio 45241. In lieu of flowers, donations to the "Berkemeier Kids Educational Fund" can be made at any 5/3 Bank location.
