News Death Notice

PAPPAS, Sr., Neil C. born December 31, 1931 to Christ E. and Ruth Evelyn Pappas of Reesville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013, with his family by his side. Neil graduated from Middletown High School in 1949 and attended Miami-Jacobs and the University of Dayton. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1951 and was stationed in Colorado and Texas where he met his wife Evelyn. He was honorably discharged in 1953 and returned to Middletown, Ohio where he worked at Aeronca in the Finance Department until he retired in 1992. Neil was a 50-year member of the First Baptist Church Middletown where he served as the church Treasurer for over 40 years. He was a member of the Men's Bible Class and sang in the church choir. He also had been a volunteer at the Middletown Hospital serving Meals on Wheels. Neil loved sports (especially the Reds and Bengals), loved to play golf and enjoyed bowling. He also enjoyed playing cards and board games with family and friends. Neil was preceded in death by his son Neil C. Pappas Jr. and his parents. Neil leaves behind his wife Evelyn of 60 years and daughters, Melodie (John) Dill, Vickie (Bill) Carroll; grandsons, Jason (Krissy) Dill, Christopher (Katie) Dill, and Andrew Rose; great grandchildren, Caden and Payton Dill; brother, James (Trixie) Pappas; and niece, Deborah (Tom) Payne; and nephew, James (Renee) Pappas. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday at the First Baptist Church with Reverend Ken Fey and Reverend John Dick officiating. Visitation will be 5-8:00 PM Friday at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Woodside Cemetery.
