News Death Notice

TIPTON, Ora Jane Blair age 93, of Ross, Ohio, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013 at Fort Hamilton Hospital. She was born April 6, 1920 in Ross, Ohio the only child of Dr. J.C.F. Craig and Hazel Emerick Craig. Ora Jane graduated from Ross High School in 1938 and attended Western College for Women for 2 years, Schuster Martin School of Dramatics for 1 year and Miller School of Business for 1 year. She then worked for 2 1/2 years at the Methodist Publishing Society in Cincinnati. In October of 1946 she was married to James A. Blair of Bucyrus, Ohio. They were married for 40 years until his passing in 1986. Later in 1993, Ora Jane married Carl Tipton of Hamilton until his passing in 1997. Ora Jane was an active member of the Venice Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder, a Deacon, President of the Women's Association, and a member of the church circle. She also served as the minister's secretary and published the church newsletter in the 1940's. Later she volunteered in many Ross School activities which included room mother, P.T.A. and Girl Scout Leader. Ora Jane was also interested in historic preservation which caused her to join the Hamilton German Village Society as well as historic clubs of Hamilton and Butler County. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Ann (Roger) Stow of Beaumont, CA; one granddaughter, Tamara (Darren) Wilson of Grosse Pointe, MI; two great grandchildren, Ashley and Collin Wilson; one stepson, Gene (the late Martha) Tipton; two stepdaughters, Judy (Fran) Sousa and Barb (Andy) Rafkin; eleven step grandchildren, Diane Benett, Nancy (Brad) Clark, Dan (Erin) Tipton, Emily (Scott) Bartel, Cassie (Doug) McNally, Amanda and Adam Rafkin, and Michael, Daniel, Kathy, and Christopher Sousa; many step great grandchildren; dear cousins, Dick Harding and Virginia Hoffman; her good friend Pat Tipton and many other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands; one granddaughter, Stacy Stow; dear cousins, Don Harding, Ruben Hoffman and Jack Schradin and a devoted friend, Doris Clawson. Visitation will be held at Charles C. Young Funeral Home, 4032 Hamilton Cleves Road, Ross, Ohio on Friday, July 5, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 12 noon with burial following in Venice Cemetery in Ross.
