News Death Notice

HAMMACHER, Paul D. age 82, a resident of Cypress Village in Jacksonville, FL, passed away November 10, 2012. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, and earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama and masters' degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology and Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Paul served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Paul was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years, Margaret Frost ("Peggy") Hammacher. They lived in Hamilton, OH and Stamford, CT prior to moving to Jacksonville in 1987. They were members at Trinity Episcopal Church, Hamilton, OH and All Saints Episcopal Church, Jacksonville, FL. The majority of Paul's professional career was spent with Champion International in Hamilton, OH and Stamford, CT where he worked in various positions, including Director of Industrial Engineering. Paul is survived by his beloved sister Natalie (Jay) Dawley of Stuart, FL, and three children: Carolyn (David) Stubbs of Fairfield, CT, Suzanne (Richard) Cuff of Allentown, PA, and David (Eva) Hammacher of Brno, Czech Republic. He was a proud grandfather to four grandsons and two granddaughters. His passing is also grieved by Cheri Jones of Jacksonville, FL, who cared for Paul is in his later years, and who came to regard him almost as a second father. The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff of Atria, San Pablo and Brookdale Cypress Village in Jacksonville as well as the Comfort Care given by Hospice of Jacksonville, FL. Paul and Peggy will be interred at All Saints Episcopal Church in Jacksonville. A memorial service will be held in Southport, CT at the convenience of the family.
