News Death Notice

CAMPBELL, Shirley L. left this world on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 surrounded by her family, and has now been reunited with all her loved ones in Heaven. She was one of six children born to Bill and Lucille Chadwell in Lee County, Virginia on March 15, 1936. Shirley married her childhood sweetheart, Jack Benny Campbell, on March 23, 1959 in Hamilton. This union produced the loves of her life, Phil and Doug Campbell. Shirley worked as a model for several department stores in Hamilton and later as an account statistician for Ohio Casualty until her retirement in 1994. With her kids grown and work behind her, Shirley moved to Rose Hill, Virginia to care for her ailing mother. Along with being a Mamaw without peer, Shirley was very proud of being a Kentucky Colonel. She is survived by her sons, Phil (Dianna) of Hamilton and Doug (Charlene) of Seaford, Virginia; sisters Phyllis (Ed) Jones and Alma (Carl) Monday of Rose Hill, Virginia; grandchildren Brandon (Amber) Campbell of Ross, Jason Campbell of Hamilton, and Joshua, Hannah, Mary-Katherine, Jack and Isabel Campbell of Seaford, Virginia; great-grandchildren Dylan and Payton Campbell of Ross; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack; parents Bill and Lucille Chadwell; brothers Robert and H.D. Chadwell; and sister Lois (nee Walters) Minter. The family extends a personal thank you to Jan and Tom Deaton and Kim Angel, as well as all the wonderful caregivers at Hospice of Southwest Ohio who provided so much love and support to Shirley over the past year; and a very special thank you to Tabitha, who went above and beyond her duties to make Shirley's last year on this earth as comfortable and filled with love as possible. Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Hickory Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. www.browndawsonflick.com
