BAUMANN, William A. (Bill) age 84 of Hamilton died Friday, January 18, 2013, at the Mercy Franciscan at Schroder Manor. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on November 16, 1928, the son of Harry G. and Rose (Loschiavo) Baumann. He was educated at St. Ann's and St. Joseph's elementary schools and was a 1946 graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School. In 1948, he was inducted into the United States Army and served in both Korea and Japan during the Korean War. He was honorable discharged with the rank of Sergeant in 1950, and became the proprietor of the Chestnut St. Thrift-E Market. On October 16, 1954, he married Julia L. Burkey in St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church in Hamilton. He was later employed at Sysco Food Service for 27 years, retiring in 1991. In 1992, he joined Bethart Printing Solutions, retiring in 2006. He was a member of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, had been an active member of the Friends of the Cincinnati Pops, and was the past President of the Hamilton Area Ostomy Support Group. Bill was a "people person" who was friendly and outgoing to everyone. He was a dedicated sports fan and loved discussing sports with friends, strangers, or just about anybody. He especially loved children, his children, grandchildren, or anybody else's children or grandchildren and they loved him too. Survivors include his wife of 58 years Julia Burkey Baumann; two sons, David A. (Deborah) Baumann of Hamilton, John W. Baumann of Hamilton; a daughter, Diana L. (Gregory) Baumann Vansuch of Oakwood, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Aaron (Jessica), Daniel (Melinda), Mary and Rebecca Baumann, all of Hamilton, Justin and Jacob Baumann of Asheville, N.C., Maya, Emma, and Luke Vansuch of Oakwood, Ohio; six great-grandchildren, all of Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Baumann in 1978; one great grandchild. Prayers will be offered at 9:30 am Wednesday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am Wednesday at St. Peter in Chains Church with Fr. Ronald Haft celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:30-9:30 am Wednesday in the funeral home.
