News Death Notice

CODDINGTON, Jack E. passed away Sunday, March 30 at Atruim Hospital Middletown following a short illness. Jack was born the first son of Paul and Louise (Boxwell) Coddington of Middletown in July of 1923. A World War II veteran of the "Greatest Generation", he left life at the age of ninety. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati Civil Engineering Program, Jack spent his professional life in the employ of Armco Steel Corporation serving ultimately as the Supervisor of Engineering and Technology for Armco International. Jack was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-three years, Robin A. Coddington. They have three children: Todd E. Coddington (Nancy) of Delaware, Polly A. Verbanic (Mark) of Indiana, and Kipp A. Coddington (Linda) of Virginia. His younger brother, Richard Coddington of Connecticut also survives. He very much enjoyed his grandchildren. Jack married Millicent Preuninger in 2001. She survives. Until his death, he resided at the Otterbein Retirement Community in Lebanon, Ohio. Jack greatly appreciated Milly's family: Julie Sanger (Bob) of Ohio and Steve Preuninger of Mexico. Jack enjoyed a full life including membership at the First United Methodist Church of Middletown, a love of music and singing, reading, problem solving, and family laughter. Jack loved the company of people. He will be greatly missed. Contributions may be made to the Otterbein Music Fund or the Otterbein Benevolent Fund, 580 N. State Route 741, Lebanon, OH 45036. A memorial service will be conducted at the Otterbein Chapel, Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 2:00 PM with visitation before service from 1:30-2:00 PM. Inurnment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
