GROSS, Emerick S. (Rick) age 82, died on Wednesday, May 28, 2014. He was born in Hamilton on October 6, 1931 to Stephen and Elizabeth (Furtner) Gross. In 1976 he married Jeanne Krumer who preceded him in death in 2002. He graduated from Hamilton Catholic High School in 1949 and from the University of Cincinnati in 1954 earning a B.S. in Civil Engineering and later becoming a Registered Professional Engineer as well as receiving his MBA from Xavier University in 1960. Rick served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1956. He stayed active serving in the Air Force Reserves until retiring as a Lt. Colonel in 1991. Rick began his career in 1956 joining his father at Stephen Gross & Sons Inc., General Building Contractors, and later becoming President and then CEO until retiring in 2008. He also served as President of the AGC of Ohio, Cincinnati Division. He was a long time member of the Hamilton Rotary Club and Big Brothers/Sisters. He was a long time parishioner of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and served on the school building committee. He is survived by his sister-in-law Paula J. Gross, nephews Stephen J. Gross and Gregory W. Gross, PhD., nieces Linda A. Rindler (Dean) and Karen G. Majors (Todd) and six great nieces and nephew and one special friend, Christina Klocke. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Walter E. Gross. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 2, 2014 from 5-8 PM at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 2550 Millville Ave, Hamilton, Ohio on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 10 AM. Burial will follow at St. Stephens Cemetery.
