TENDAM, Edward R. "Moose" Age 84, of Hamilton, died Sunday, June 8, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Hamilton on October 17, 1929, the son of Harry C. and Helen (Altman) Tendam. He was a 1948 graduate of Hamilton High School, where he was captain of the football team. Ed was a Korean War Veteran serving from February 13, 1951 to January 15, 1953 with the U. S. Army in Japan. He married Barbara McMahon, his high school sweetheart, on June 29, 1951 in El Paso, Texas. He had been employed as a Letter Carrier for 40 years and as a Para Professional at Garfield Junior High School for ten years. Ed was a member of St. Julie Billiart Roman Catholic Church, a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Butler Council and the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), Branch 426. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his son, Mark Tendam, Evanston, Illinois; his daughter, Beth Ann Palmer, Northville, Michigan; two sons-in-law, Neal Moglin and Matthew Palmer and his grandson, Matthew Palmer, II. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty J. Jolly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 13, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, 224 Dayton Street with Father Michael Pucke Celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday, June 12 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N. W. Washington Blvd. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Cincinnati for their care. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Hamilton Community Foundation, 319 North Third Street, Hamilton OH 45011, to establish a fund benefiting athletes in the Hamilton High football program.
